Congrats to Damo127 on taking the first big title of the year,Damo's been racing longer than most and a decent title has been long overdue with so many nearly wins,Well done mate,Gold roof cross for you! Unlucky South108 who was leading the last lap and was a good quarter of a lap ahead of Damo & Ryan but got caught on the crossover just before the line by Earoles110 and sent fencebound,He was unable to recover quickly enough and finished in third behind Ryan half a second behind first place.
All in all a close race,Both the Hearses running 1st and 2nd on laps 7/8.The top 5 all crossed the line within 1.5 seconds.

Re: 21/06/12 Figure 8 World Final - Wimbledon8 1985
Well done Damo, really well deserved win after being highly placed at all the free league World Finals last year and numerous other events. Well overdue a big win in my opinion!
2 weeks on the trot for Toward to be leading most the final and to be taken out in the later stages....but you've won enough over the years
Didn't like the qualifying system for the meeting, encouraged rodding too much with everyone trying to get those top 2 places (granted it provided more tension and close racing as Gaz said) but wasn't rewarding those who where consistant, or good for those who wanted a crash and be in the main race aswell.
A similar but alternative qualifying system could be maybe 3 heats where the top 4 go through from each...would equal 24 in the race? Then 2 non points between that and the final for everyones crashing fix Would still provide the potentially close racing in the heats, but atleast the non qualifiers could still get some crashing done in the non points heats.
Much prefer the normal top scoring qualifying system however; as it awards those who are consistant even if they're not right up there near the leaders, and if say you've got good positions in 3 heats, you could wreck in the other 2.
Only other gripe from the meeting was that the allcomers seemed a bit of a fiasco, with oppo seemingly allowed literally everywhere except over the grass(?) which didn't make a lot of sense to me but resulted in a couple of bans. Do appreciate it was stated the infield was the grass area, but when you've got cars driving all over the normal straights as well as the 8 in the allcomers, it does seem a bit pointless to outlaw it - I see both sides of the argument to this one, but what's done is done I guess
Usually praise TNB meetings, but this one wasn't as good as others had been in recent weeks.
Looking forward to the teams as always this Thursday, should be good aslong as everyone takes the hits in the right way and stays off the infield

Re: 21/06/12 Figure 8 World Final - Wimbledon8 1985
Well done to Damo on his long overdue win, only just beat me with better drive out of the last bend, not too saddened by getting 2nd because of how close the top 5 were! I thought I'd lost it by the midpoint when I was battling about a lap down on the leaders, once again the 8 proved that it was a tricky customer though.
The VX4/90 was a bit of a gamble but my word it seemed to pay off! I expected to get thoroughly raped in the heats but it found its way through the gaps and was relatively on pace!
Not entirely certain on the qualification methods, but then again, I wasnt really involved in that, seems a bit more luck than racecraft and judgement from where I was looking from, though that could have been evened out by the F8 being a considerable amount of luck, unless you can spot gaps from a long way off. Also the entire meeting seemed far more roddy, even with the odd person scattered on oppo.
None the less, cheers to those who ran it, see you all next week!

Well done Damo, wasn't it podiums in every free league Wimbo world last year but not a single win? Glad to see you finally grab some gold.
I've never actually won anything of note on TNB been a lap or 2 away from various major titles but the closest I've ever been was about half a car length at Mildo British with Frenchy. Think the reason behind it is how high the quality of drivers has always been on TNB, I've won plenty Worlds/British/English/Supreme etc etc on other leagues but any sort of major win on TNB would always overshadow all of those and I think everyone who does more than one free league would agree.
As said on the night, good racing South, I've always hated Figure 8 worlds as the people behind always tend to lean me up the ropes to make sure I can't get them back on the next bend (which more often than not knocks a wheel or something and ruins my race) but we ended up having a close race for a while and never gayed each other which was far more enjoyable!

Re: 21/06/12 Figure 8 World Final - Wimbledon8 1985
Well done Damo!
For me not the best night as the merc hardly went round the corner which immidiatly ruined my chances to qualify. Want to say a bit thanks to all who tried to help me in last qualifying heat but afraid i had a bit to much people trying to help me there
And for everyone who thought i begged for help, that was not my intention, South said to Smith226 something like Look who's here and is gonna stop you, so i reacted, Help there goed my chance to qualify, as South should be out to destroy my merc! Awesome to see the amount of PM's i got from people who said they where gonna help me, thanks lads! won't say that again as it made it only harder to qualify as there where to many helping me. Special note for HaaDee, blimey shot at the end of the heat to give me a safe crossing there mate!
Enjoyed it and will give the merc a try on a normal oval, think it's looks deserve that
